Accidents can happen to anyone ay any time. If you are ever involved in an accident, it is important to remember the following:

Print this list and the downloadable checklist (coming soon) and keep them in your glove compartment for reference in case of emergency.

When should I call the police?

If someone has been injured; and/or
-
Accidents involving pedestrians or cyclists, Municipal vehicles or transport trucks; and/or
-
If the combined damages are significant; and/or
-
Accidents involving damage to private, municipal or highway property; and/or
-
Vehicles are unsafe to drive and/or require to be towed; and/or
-
You think that any other driver may be guilty of a criminal offence such as impaired driving, assault, stolen vehicle, etc; and/or
-
Accidents involving uninsured, unlicensed or suspended drivers; and/or
-
Accidents where vehicles are transporting dangerous goods
When should I go to a Collision Reporting Centre?
-
If the accident occurs in a city that has a Collision Reporting Centre; and/or
-
If the combined damage to vehicles is below $1,000; and/or
-
If no one has been injured.
What should I do before going to a Collision Reporting Centre?
-
Only if it is safe to do so, safely remove vehicles from the road
-
Confirm with the police that their presence is not required and confirm the nearest location of a Collision Reporting Centre

Exchange information with all the other involved parties, including independent witnesses. This information would include but would not be limited to: Name, phone numbers, insurance companies, vehicle information and a sketch of the accident scene
- Safely bring your vehicle to the most convenient Collision Reporting Centre as soon as possible

Bring relevant information to the Collision Reporting Centre. This information would include but would not be limited to: Drivers license, proof of insurance, vehicle registration and documentation on the other involved parties.
*** PLEASE NOTE: All towed vehicles must go directly to a Collision Reporting Centre without exception.
